I was inspired to write about this from the lovely Mel from my gym. She leads us in spin class on Saturdays and Sundays and I often bump into her when I am training on other days. This girl is such joy, she just absolutely loves what she does. It’s so evident and it has such a flow on effect to those of us that are in her classes and see her training clients.
As my dear friend Rob calls it, “The J Spot”.
Do you live your life with joy? Does your vocation give you joy? Do you show up to work on a Monday excited to be there? Is your “J Spot” activated?
The question to ask yourself is, “If not, why not?”
If you do, that’s fabulous, so do I. I absolutely love what I do.
Why would you go somewhere to spend most of your day and week doing something that does not give you Joy? Perhaps it’s an amazing salary or the security, or perhaps it’s the perks. I’m sure there would be untold reasons you could come up with, but fundamentally, if you do not love what you do, you are in the wrong job. Period.
Excuses aside, you are at choice. You are at choice whether you carry on. Or perhaps give yourself some space to ask yourself, “What would I truly love to do?”, “What would give me Joy?”, “What would that look like?”
You see, we all came to have this human experience, and in a lifetime, it actually goes quick, especially the older we get. So why not make the most of it?
I also believe that we all came here with a purpose – something that we are really great at, something that is purposeful for us, that doesn’t feel like work, and, of course, that which gives us Joy.
So perhaps try this little exercise out.
Get a piece of paper out, some water (be hydrated) and just spend some time becoming present, perhaps take a few deep breaths, just connecting into yourself. Asking yourself,
“What do I love?”
“What would I love to do?”
Put the pen to paper and list out the things you love doing, keep going until you feel complete. Then review and see if there is a theme. See what is present. Have fun with it.
If you would like some support in connecting into your intuitive higher self around this, let me know. I love helping my clients get clear on their purpose and start manifesting it forth, through vision and inspired action. You see, when we create from our intuitive self we are unlimited and at our most expansive as well as our most powerful.
